Megan Freeman

Director of Compliance and Governance

Megan Freeman joined Schulman, Lopez, Hoffer & Adelstein, LLP in August 2025 as a non-attorney Director of Compliance and Governance.* She brings more than two decades of experience in K-12 education, compliance, governance, and project management, having served in leadership roles for public, charter, and virtual school organizations across Texas and the nation.

Before joining the firm, Ms. Freeman was Chief of Staff at Great Hearts Texas, where she oversaw governance processes for the Board of Directors, streamlined board operations, implemented a board management platform, and ensured organizational compliance with state requirements. She also served as Director of Compliance and Project Management for Great Hearts Nova in Arizona, supporting partner schools and leading operational initiatives for national virtual school programs.

Previously, Ms. Freeman was Regional Compliance Director for K12 Inc./Stride, supporting 17 partner school programs in 13 states and leading compliance process improvements. Over her career with K12/Stride, she held multiple operational and instructional roles, including Project Analyst, Curriculum Coordinator, and teacher, managing large-scale compliance projects, launching new schools, and increasing funding. She began her career as a classroom teacher in Richardson ISD.
